Background: Body positioning refers to optimize O2 transport by manipulating effect of gravity on cardiopulmonary and cardiovascular function. Positioning should be an integral part of respiratory care, especially when prophylaxis is aim. Turning patient supine to lateral to prone to lateral, at least hourly makes a difference between living and dying for intensive care patient. Positioning reduces atelectasis and improves gas exchange. Methods: Total 33 subjects aged between 15-73 years, 21 male and 12 female patients were selected for study from ICU, Neurological trauma unit Pune. Inclusion criteria: All subjects with respiratory failure due to different pathologies like ARDS, Pulmonary edema, pneumonia, tuberculosis, collection of fluid in pleural cavity with underlying lung collapse. Exclusion criteria: Unstable cardiac conditions, unstable fractures, unstable hemodynamic, recently operated cardiac subjects. The patients were kept in supine position, lateral and prone and vitals like BP, HR, RR and oxygen saturation with help of pulse oximeter noted just before position. Thorough ET or tracheostomy suction was done. Before turning patient if any intercostal drain present was clamped. Results: Paired t-test was used. p values for prone and bilateral side lying positions was < 0.05 showing its significance for above mentioned 3-positions. p value for supine was not < 0.05 showing its non-significance. Conclusion: The study concluded that oxygen saturation improves in prone lying and side lying position as compared to supine lying. But this improvement is quiet significant in prone position as compared to side lying.

A hybrid pan-sharpening approach using maximum local extrema

Get PDF
Mixing or combining different elements for getting enhanced version, is practiced across various areas in real life. Pan-sharpening is a similar technique used in the digital world; a process to combine two images into a fused image that comprises more detailed information. Images referred herein are Panchromatic (PAN) and Multispectral (MS) images. This paper presents a pansharpening algorithm which integrates multispectral and panchromatic images to generate an improved multispectral image. This technique merges the Discrete wavelet transform (WT) and Intensity-Hue-Saturation (IHS) through separate fusing criterion for choosing an approximate and detail sub-images. Whereas the maximal local extrema are used for merging detail sub-images and finally merged high-resolution image is reconstructed through inverse transform of wavelet and IHS. The proposed fusion approach enhances the superiority of the resultant fused image is demonstrated by quality measures like CORR, RMSE, PFE, SSIM, SNR and PSNR with the help of satellite Worldview-II images. The proposed algorithm is correlated with the other fusion techniques through empirical outcomes proves the superiority of the final merged image in terms of resolutions than the others

The catalytic effect of two different sizes of a-Fe2O3 nanoparticles synthesised using an electrochemicalmethod was investigated on the thermal decomposition of ammonium perchlorate (AP) using differentialscanning calorimetry as a function of catalyst concentration. The nanosized ferric oxide particles exhibitedmore of a catalytic effect on the thermal decomposition of AP than commercial Fe2O3 particles. A loweringof the high-temperature decomposition of AP by 59 oC was observed after mixing with 2 Wt per cent ofa-Fe2O3 particles with the very fine size of 3.5 nm. The mixture produced a high heat release of 4.574 kJ/g compared to 0.834 kJ/g of pure AP. The kinetic parameters were evaluated using Kissinger method. Thedecrease in the activation energy and increase in rate constant confirmed the catalytic activity of thesenanoparticles.Defence Science Journal, 2008, 58(6), pp.721-727, DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.14429/dsj.58.169

Get PDF
The wireless sensor network is set of distributed nodes, which are randomly deployed in sensor field to capture various parameters and send it to receiver station for further analysis and prediction. There are two types of protocols essential for communication. One is MAC protocol and another is routing protocol. Routing protocols are used for finding shortest path between sources to destination. MAC protocols are used for reliable data delivery from source to destination. The design of a reliable wireless sensor network (WSN) must handle the failure of single or many network components, still, because of the deployment of mechanisms to tolerate faults at various levels. the most objective of this paper is to review different existing algorithms proposed by different researchers and merge their work for further study. This paper studies different prototypes and proposed algorithms, and also the objectives of the papers. Also, the paper elaborates on the proposed algorithm within the particular paper together with their objectives. Proposed algorithm is very useful for to reduce heavy congestion over the networks and achieve various parameters of sensor networks

Get PDF
A biometric system gives automatic identification of an individual based on a unique feature or characteristic possessed by the individual. Iris recognition system is regarded as the most reliable and accurate biometric identification system available. Also, Iris recognition is considered to be the most reliable and accurate biometric identification system present. Iris recognition system captures an image of an individual’s eye, the iris in the image is then meant for the segmentation and normalization for extracting its features. The performance of iris recognition systems mainly depends on the segmentation. Segmentation is used for the localization of the correct iris region in the particular region of an eye and it should be done accurately and correctly to remove the eyelids, eyelashes, reection and pupil noises present in iris region. Iris images are selected from the Database, then the iris and pupil boundary is detected from rest of the eye image,by removing the noises. The segmented iris region was normalized to compress the dimensional inconsistencies between two iris regions by using Then the features of the iris were encoded by convolving the normalized iris. The Hamming distance was chosen as a matching metric parameter, which gave the measure of how many bits disagreed between the templates of the iris

As organizations need to focus on maintaining their datacenter in order to store huge amount of data of their clients. So cloud computing is one of the greatest platform which provides storage of data in very lower cost to organizations and available for all time over the internet. But it has some critical issues like load management. Load Balancing approach is based on Cloud partitioning concept. Load balancing is the process of distributing load over the different nodes which provides good resource utilization when nodes are overloaded with job. In this approach, we are using model in which memory size of every partition will be checked linearly and for efficient retrieval of user’s file, we use Bloom filter algorithm.
